There are 216 possible outcomes with three dice (6 × 6 × 6). Every payout and house edge in sic bo comes from counting how many of those 216 outcomes win for each bet. That makes it a very transparent game once you see the numbers.

Two things jump out. First, Small and Big are much better value than anything else on the table. Second, the specific triple looks tempting at 180 to 1, but you'd only expect it once in 216 rolls, and the payout doesn't fully make up for that. Some tables pay only 150 to 1 on a specific triple, which pushes the house edge to about 30%. That's a big difference for the same bet, so read the paytable.

Total bets: payouts and house edge

You can also bet on the exact total of the three dice, from 4 to 17. Totals of 3 and 18 are only possible with triples, so they're usually covered by the triple bets instead. Here's a common total paytable. Totals are symmetrical, so 4 pays the same as 17, 5 the same as 16, and so on.

Among the total bets, 7 and 14 are usually the least bad on this paytable. But all of them cost much more over time than Small or Big.

What house edge means for your naira

House edge is the average share of each bet the casino expects to keep over a very long time. It doesn't predict a single session. But it does tell you roughly what a session costs on average.

A real dealer shakes the dice in a mechanical shaker, streamed from a studio. You place bets during a countdown, then watch the result. It's slower, more social and feels more like a real casino. Table minimums are usually higher than digital versions.

Digital (RNG) sic bo

The dice are rolled by a random number generator. Rounds are fast and minimum stakes can be very low. Speed is the risk here: more rounds per hour means more total money bet, which means more expected loss even at the same house edge.

Multiplier versions

Some live providers offer sic bo with random multipliers. Evolution's Super Sic Bo, for example, adds random multipliers of up to 1,000x to selected bet spots before the dice are rolled. "Doubling up after a loss on Small or Big guarantees a profit"

The martingale looks good until you hit a losing streak and the table limit or your balance stops you. Over time it loses at the same house edge as any other approach, with much bigger swings.
