My brother, while most of the country was watching club football, our Flamingos went to Rabat and beat the two-time defending champions. Nigeria's girls are in the round of 16 at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco, and the bookmakers have started pricing their games. This guide to U17 Women's World Cup betting odds covers the tournament schedule, how Nigeria got here, which markets you'll see, and why youth football odds need extra care.
18+ only. Since the Supreme Court judgment of 22 November 2024, gambling in Nigeria has been regulated at state level (Lagos has the LSLGA, for example), while the NLRC covers the FCT. Cloudbet, which we link for crypto sports betting, is licensed in Curaçao and is not licensed by any Nigerian state regulator. We don't quote live odds on this page. Prices change by the minute, so read the current board on the day.

The tournament at a glance
Here are the facts from FIFA's official fixtures page, checked on 25 October 2026:
- Edition: the 10th FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, hosted by Morocco.
- Dates: 17 October to 7 November 2026.
- Venues: the group stage and knockout rounds are at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat. The final and the bronze final are at the Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium, also in Rabat.
- Format: 24 teams in six groups of four. The top two in each group and the four best third-placed teams go into a round of 16.
- Knockout calendar: round of 16 on 28 and 29 October, quarter-finals on 1 November, semi-finals on 4 November, and the final and bronze final on 7 November.
Why the format matters for betting: a team can lose its opening game and still go deep. The Flamingos are living proof. It also means the first group game is a poor guide to how a team will finish, and outright prices can swing a lot after matchday one.
How the Flamingos got to the last 16
Nigeria qualified through the African route by beating Guinea and Benin, according to the NFF. Head coach Akeem Busari took the squad to Rabat for Group B with Poland, Puerto Rico and DPR Korea. DPR Korea arrived as two-time defending champions.
- 17 October: Poland 2-1 Nigeria. Poland led 2-0 before Oluebube Umejiaku pulled one back with a late free kick. It was a bad start, but the format gave the girls room to recover.
- 20 October: Nigeria 2-0 Puerto Rico. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring and Precious Oscar added the second deep in stoppage time.
- 23 October: Nigeria 3-1 DPR Korea. This was the big one. Adegbuyi scored in the 15th minute, Umejiaku in the 38th and Kanyinsola Yusuf with a free kick in the 56th. Yu Jong-hyang scored a late penalty for Korea in the 82nd minute. Yusuf was named Player of the Match, and an Adegbuyi goal late on was ruled out after a video review (FIFA match centre, NFF, Premium Times).
Poland, Nigeria and DPR Korea all finished on six points. DPR Korea topped the group on goal difference, helped by a 6-1 win over Poland. Nigeria finished second, and Poland went through as one of the best third-placed teams (Nigeria Football, FIFA).
One thing to note for anyone betting on goalscorers: Umejiaku and Adegbuyi both scored twice in the group stage, and Nigeria's set pieces caused problems all tournament. Two of the goals against Poland and Korea came from free kicks.
What's next: the round of 16
Nigeria play the runners-up of Group F on Thursday, 29 October 2026, according to Nigerian football media and FIFA's bracket. Group F contains Spain, Mexico, Chile and Australia, and its last games were played on 25 October, so the opponent is only being confirmed as this page goes live. Check FIFA's fixtures page for the opponent and the exact kick-off time in WAT before you bet.
If the Flamingos win, the path runs through a quarter-final on 1 November, a semi-final on 4 November and the final on 7 November. Each round is a single knockout game.
A word on the history so you don't overreact to one great result. Nigeria won bronze at the 2022 edition in India. At the previous edition in 2025, they went out in the round of 16 after a 4-0 defeat to Italy (NFF). Beating DPR Korea shows what this group can do, but knockout football at this age is unpredictable, and the market knows that.
Why U17 odds behave differently from senior football
If you bet on the Super Eagles or the Premier League, youth tournament odds can look strange. Here's why:
- Thin data. Many of these players have no senior record and only a handful of televised games. Bookmakers price them with much less information than a league match, so their margins are higher to protect themselves.
- Big swings between games. Teenage players are less consistent. A team that looks brilliant one day can concede three the next. Poland beat Nigeria, then were beaten 6-1 by DPR Korea in the same group.
- Lopsided scores. The gap between the strongest and weakest teams is wider than in senior football. In Group B alone, DPR Korea put six past Poland. Goal lines in these games are often set higher than you'd expect, and they still go over sometimes.
- Late team news. Squads are announced, but starting line-ups come about an hour before kick-off. Injuries and suspensions are reported less widely than for senior sides.
- Lower limits. Many sites cap stakes on youth football. If your bet gets cut back, that's the reason.
Markets you can expect for Flamingos games
Coverage varies by site, but for a World Cup knockout game you'll usually see most of these:
- 1X2 (match result). Settles on 90 minutes plus stoppage time. If the game goes to a shootout and Nigeria win it, a "Nigeria to win" 1X2 bet still loses, because the result at 90 minutes was a draw.
- To qualify / to advance. Includes whatever happens after 90 minutes. Check the competition rules on FIFA's site for whether a knockout game goes to extra time or straight to penalties, and read your bookmaker's settlement rules. Our guide on how to bet on penalties explains shootout markets.
- Draw no bet and double chance. Useful when you think Nigeria won't lose but aren't sure they'll win in 90 minutes.
- Goals markets. Over/under, both teams to score and Nigeria team goals. With the big scorelines in this tournament, read the line carefully. See how to bet on goals.
- Handicaps. More common in mismatches than in an even knockout game.
- Goalscorer markets. Many sites skip these for youth games because the player data is so thin. Where they exist, read our first goalscorer betting tips first.
- Outrights. Tournament winner, to reach the final, stage of elimination and top scorer. Read top-scorer rules carefully, because dead-heat rules often apply when players finish level.
Reading the outright board honestly
Outright odds look exciting because they are big. Before you back the Flamingos to win the whole thing, think it through. Winning the tournament means winning four knockout games in ten days, from the round of 16 on 29 October to the final on 7 November. Every round could be against a strong side: DPR Korea, the two-time holders, are still in the tournament, along with European and South American teams that have deeper youth systems.
Outright markets also carry the biggest margins in football. Add up the implied chances of every team and you'll often see a total well above 100%. That gap is the bookmaker's edge. If you want a Nigeria outright, "to reach the semi-final" or "stage of elimination" asks a more realistic question than "to win", and you'll have your answer sooner.
Don't treat the DPR Korea result as proof that Nigeria are now favourites. One result in a three-game group tells you something, but not everything. Watch how the market moves after the round of 16 draw is confirmed, and compare at least two sites before you bet.
Team news and where to check it
For youth tournaments, good information is harder to find than for senior football. Use the official sources first:
- FIFA's tournament pages and match centre for fixtures, line-ups, scorers and match reports.
- The NFF's official website and social channels for squad news, injuries and the coach's comments.
- Trusted Nigerian sports outlets such as Premium Times and the established football sites that cover the Flamingos regularly.
Be careful with WhatsApp and Telegram "insider" groups. Youth tournaments attract rumours, and anyone selling a "sure" U17 result is selling you a lie. Fixed-match sellers target lesser-known games exactly because punters can't check them easily.

Live betting on Flamingos matches
Live markets for youth football are thinner and suspend more often, and your bet slip can show "odds changed" a lot. If you plan to bet in play:
- Have a pre-match view of the game, so you know what you're looking for (for example, Nigeria pressing high early or sitting deep).
- Remember that set pieces have been a real weapon for this squad. A string of corners or free kicks near the box is a real factor, not just noise.
- Don't chase a pre-match loss with a live bet. That's how small stakes become big ones.

Staking: support the girls, protect your pocket
Youth football is fun to follow and terrible to over-bet. A sensible approach:
- Use smaller stakes than usual. Thin data means your edge, if you have one, is smaller and less certain.
- Keep the same unit size whether Nigeria are playing or not. Love for the team doesn't change the maths.
- Avoid long accumulators with youth legs. Each leg adds margin and uncertainty. Our staking plan guide explains flat stakes in more detail.
- Set a tournament budget before the round of 16 and stop when it's gone.
Other African teams in the knockouts
Nigeria aren't the only African side still in Rabat. Ghana's Black Maidens also reached the round of 16 after beating Canada 2-0 in their last group game (FIFA). If you're looking at West African fixtures, remember that Ghana's games carry the same thin-data warnings as Nigeria's.
How this connects to the senior women's team
The U17 side is where future Super Falcons come from, and the timing matters. The senior team had a hard 2026: a WAFCON quarter-final exit and no place at the 2027 World Cup. The Flamingos' run is good news for Nigerian women's football. If you follow the senior side too, our guide to Super Falcons betting odds covers WAFCON and Olympic qualifying markets.
Is it legal to bet on the U17 Women's World Cup from Nigeria?
Since the Supreme Court judgment of 22 November 2024, each state regulates gambling within its borders, and the NLRC covers the FCT. Locally licensed operators answer to the regulator in their state. Cloudbet is licensed in Curaçao and is not licensed by any Nigerian state regulator, so Nigerian regulator protection doesn't apply there. Read whether online betting is legal in Nigeria for the state-by-state picture. You must be 18 or older to bet.
Know your limits
Following a youth World Cup should be fun. If betting starts to feel like pressure, if you're chasing losses, or if you're using money meant for rent, school fees or food, stop and talk to someone. Bottom line
The Flamingos have given us a proper tournament to follow. They recovered from a loss to Poland, beat Puerto Rico and then beat DPR Korea, the two-time holders, to reach the round of 16 on 29 October. When you look at U17 Women's World Cup betting odds, remember that youth markets have thin data, bigger margins, wild scorelines and late team news. Bet on 90-minute markets only when you understand how they settle, prefer "to reach" stages over long outrights, check FIFA and NFF sources before every game, and keep your stakes small. 18+ only. No. A 1X2 bet settles on 90 minutes plus stoppage time. 'To qualify' or 'to advance' markets include what happens after 90 minutes, including a shootout.
