Winning on Bet9ja feels sweet. Watching the money sit in your betting balance because the withdrawal won't go through feels the opposite. Most withdrawal problems I hear about come from the same few mistakes: a bank account in somebody else's name, an amount under the minimum, an OTP that never arrives, or a bonus that's still running. So let's walk through cashing out from the Bet9ja app properly, using the steps Bet9ja publishes on its own help site, and then sort out what to do when things go wrong.
18+ only. We may earn a commission if you sign up through some links on this site, at no extra cost to you. Bet9ja is run by KC Gaming Networks Limited, which appears on the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) list of licensed operators. Since the Supreme Court judgment of 22 November 2024, gambling in Nigeria is regulated state by state. Cloudbet, the crypto sportsbook our buttons point to, holds a Curaçao licence and is not licensed by any Nigerian state regulator.

Before you tap Withdraw: three things to sort out
Ten minutes of setup now saves you days of back-and-forth later.
- Your Bet9ja profile name must be your real name. Bet9ja's help site says the bank account holder name must match your Bet9ja registration details. If it doesn't, your account can be suspended until you send proof of ID and a bank statement showing the account is yours. If you registered with a nickname or a shortened name, contact support and fix it before you need the money.
- You need a bank account in that same name. Bet9ja says you can withdraw only to your registered bank account and that no other payment method can be used for withdrawals. Not your brother's account, not your wife's, not a friend's.
- Your phone number and email must be current. The final step of every withdrawal is a one-time password (OTP) sent by SMS or email. If the number on your account is an old SIM you no longer use, you're stuck at the last hurdle.
Step 1: add your bank account in the app
Bet9ja's withdrawal guide works through the "My Account" menu. In the app, that's the account area you reach by tapping your profile or balance. Labels can shift a little between app versions, but you're looking for the same items:
- Log in with your username and password.
- Open My Account and find "Manage Bank Account".
- Tap "Add Bank Account".
- Pick your bank and type your account number carefully.
- Complete the verification step. Bet9ja's help site says a newly added bank account has to be verified before you can use it.
Do this the day you open your account, not the night you win. Verification is a one-time job, and you don't want it standing between you and your money when you're excited.
Can you register an account with a digital bank or wallet? Bet9ja's wording is "bank account". Whether a particular digital bank appears in the drop-down list is something to check in the app itself. If it's listed and the account is in your name, it should work like any other bank. If it isn't listed, use a traditional bank account in your name.
Step 2: request the withdrawal
Once a bank account is registered, the payout itself takes a minute. Bet9ja's own steps are:
- Go to My Account and tap "Withdrawal".
- Type the amount you want to cash out.
- Choose your bank account number from the drop-down list.
- Tap "Make Withdrawal" to confirm.
- Choose whether to receive your OTP by SMS or email.
- Enter the OTP. Bet9ja says the withdrawal is then requested.
Note the word "requested". That's not the same as "paid". Your request now goes into Bet9ja's processing queue, and then your bank has to receive it. More on timing below.
Limits, timing and fees
| What | What Bet9ja says |
|---|---|
| Minimum withdrawal | ₦1,000 |
| Maximum withdrawal | ₦100,000,000 in its payment methods table |
| Where the money goes | Your registered bank account only, in your own name |
| Confirmation | OTP by SMS or email |
| Processing time | Within 24 banking hours |
| Fees | Bet9ja's FAQ says it charges no withdrawal fees |
That "24 banking hours" part trips people up. Banking hours are working hours on working days. A request you send late on Friday night may not move until Monday, and public holidays push it back again. So if you need cash for a specific day, withdraw early in the week, during the day.
Also keep in mind that the minimum to withdraw (₦1,000) is far higher than the minimum to deposit, which Bet9ja lists as ₦100. If your balance is ₦850, you can't cash it out yet. Our page on betting sites with the lowest minimum withdrawals compares this across bookmakers if you play small.
Bonus money and withdrawals
If you claimed a welcome offer or any promo, part of your balance may be bonus funds with wagering rules attached. Until those rules are met, the bonus portion, and sometimes the winnings it produced, aren't withdrawable. Some offers also cancel the bonus if you withdraw while it's still active. Before you request a payout, open the promotion's terms in the app and check:
- How much of your balance is cash and how much is bonus.
- Whether the wagering requirement is complete.
- Whether withdrawing now forfeits anything.
If you're not sure, ask live chat which part of your balance is withdrawable right now. It's a quick question and it saves a nasty surprise.
When the withdrawal is still pending
A pending withdrawal is normal for a while. Here's how I'd handle it:
- Count banking hours, not clock hours. If it's been less than 24 banking hours, it's within what Bet9ja says, so give it time.
- Check your transaction history in the app. Look at the status: requested, processing, paid or rejected.
- Check your bank, not just the SMS alert. Alerts sometimes lag. Log in to your bank app and look at the actual balance.
- After 24 banking hours, contact Bet9ja support through the app or the official website with your username, the amount, the date and time of the request, and the last four digits of the bank account.
- If Bet9ja says it's paid and your bank says nothing came, ask Bet9ja for the payment reference and take that to your bank.
Don't request the same amount again while the first one is pending. That just confuses the records and can make the fix slower.
When the withdrawal is rejected or your account is locked
Rejections usually come down to a handful of causes:
- Name mismatch. The bank account name doesn't match your Bet9ja details. Bet9ja's help site says this can get your account suspended until you send proof of ID and a bank statement showing you own the account. Gather a clear photo of a valid ID and a recent statement that shows your name and account number, and send them only through Bet9ja's official support channels.
- Unverified bank account. You added the account but never completed the verification step.
- Amount below ₦1,000. The request won't go through.
- Bonus not cleared. Part of the balance is still locked by wagering rules.
- Wrong account number. One wrong digit. Remove the account in Manage Bank Account and add it again carefully.
Stay calm and keep it in writing. Live chat transcripts and emails give you a trail if things drag on. If a licensed operator in Lagos won't resolve a genuine complaint, the LSLGA is the regulator you can escalate to.

The OTP never arrived
This one is frustrating because you're one step away. Try these in order:
- Switch the OTP method. If SMS didn't come, choose email next time, or the other way round.
- Check your spam or promotions folder for the email.
- Check that your phone has signal and isn't blocking short-code messages. Some do-not-disturb settings filter them.
- Wait a minute or two before asking for a new code. Requesting several at once can mean the first one you type has already expired.
- If your number or email on file is outdated, contact support to update it. Expect them to verify who you are first.
And the golden rule: an OTP is for you alone. Anyone who messages you asking for "the code we just sent" is trying to steal your money, whatever they claim to be.
Withdrawal scams to dodge
- "Unlock your withdrawal" fees. Bet9ja's FAQ says there are no withdrawal fees. Anyone asking you to pay a "release fee" to free your winnings is a fraudster.
- Fake support accounts on social media who DM you after you complain publicly. Only use contact details from inside the app or the official website.
- Account "recovery" agents who want your login details to "push" a withdrawal through. Never share your password.
- People selling verified accounts. Using someone else's account means the winnings legally belong to them, and the name check will block you anyway.
A clean cash-out routine
If you bet regularly, this simple habit keeps withdrawals boring, and boring is good:
- Register and verify your bank account on day one.
- Decide your cash-out point before you start betting. For example, anything above your starting stake goes out at the end of the week.
- Withdraw on weekday mornings so banking hours work for you.
- Screenshot each request with the amount, date and time.
- Check your bank balance the next working day.
Pulling winnings out regularly also protects you from yourself. Money sitting in a betting balance has a way of getting staked again on a late-night match you didn't even care about.
App or website: does it matter?
Your Bet9ja account is the same account whether you open it in the app, the mobile site or on a laptop. A bank account you register in one place shows up everywhere, and a withdrawal you request on the website lands in the same queue as one from the app. So if the app is misbehaving, crashing on the withdrawal screen or refusing to load the bank list, you don't have to wait for an update. Log in on the official website in your phone's browser and follow the same My Account steps.
That said, keep the app itself updated from the official store. Old versions sometimes break on payment screens, and an update often fixes the problem in seconds. Never install a Bet9ja app from a link in a WhatsApp group or a random download site. Fake apps exist to grab your login details, and once someone has those, your balance is theirs.
Documents to keep ready
You may never be asked, but if Bet9ja does need to confirm who you are, having these on hand turns a week of waiting into a day:
- A clear photo of a valid government ID, such as your NIN slip, voter's card, driver's licence or international passport, with all four corners visible.
- A recent bank statement, or a screenshot from your bank app, that shows your full name and the account number you registered.
- The phone number and email address on your Bet9ja account, so support can match you quickly.
Send documents only through the support channels listed inside the app or on the official website, and black out anything they didn't ask for, like your card number.
What about tax on winnings?
Tax rules on betting in Nigeria have been changing with the new tax laws and state regulation. We cover what's known in our guide to betting tax in Nigeria, so check that before you plan around a big payout.
If you also play at a crypto sportsbook
Withdrawing from an offshore crypto site like Cloudbet works completely differently. There's no bank account and no naira. You withdraw a coin to your own crypto wallet address. Cloudbet's help centre says the minimum depends on the coin, the network fee is shown before you confirm, and withdrawals are typically processed within 24 hours. Its terms also allow it to ask for ID, with a verification point at cumulative deposits of US$2,200. Our guide to Cloudbet withdrawal times in Nigeria covers it in detail. Remember that Cloudbet is licensed in Curaçao, not by a Nigerian state, so you don't have a local regulator to complain to there.
My take
Withdrawing in the Bet9ja app is simple when the groundwork is done: your real name on the profile, a verified bank account in that same name, an amount of at least ₦1,000, and a phone or email that actually gets the OTP. After that, give it 24 banking hours before you chase it, keep records, and never pay anyone to "release" your winnings.
